Role: Creative Lead - The Mill

While at the Mill’s Emerging Technology Department from 2017 to 2021, I was very fortunate to creative direct over 30 augmented reality experiences in collaboration with Facebook and Instagram, Nike SNKER, VOGUE, HBO, FIFA WORLD CUP, etc.

While these projects were created during the early stages of AR experimentation and commercial implementation, I believe AR will become a more ubiquitous means of enriching communication and giving us new ways of revealing the unseen.

I strongly believe in the future of augmented reality and the metaverse. They will go hand in hand to become an important aspect of our daily lives.

HBO WATCHMEN: Squid rain

HBO approached Mill+ to help market the premiere of Watchmen with an AR effect. We recreated a bizarre scene from the show where after warning siren, squids begin falling from the sky. In the effect, one of the squids lands on your face to create emotional engagement and help the user feel as if they were in the show. 

Warner Bros: Justice League AR & UX

Warner Bros/Facebook approached The Mill to create effect could capture the power of the Justice league as whole group, we've delivered 5 immersive super hero effects and linked them together through an UX. With these effects, fans could use the Facebook camera to become Aquaman, Batman, Cyborg, Flash or Wonder Woman and wield their super-hero powers! We added facial recognition for triggers each of the character's special traits, creating a sense of immersion through interactivity.

Netflix Narcos Mexico: Loteria

To help promote the release of Narcos: Mexico, we created an AR effect. We utilized iconic loteria cards as device to reveal fun facts to the user about key characters in the story to help engage and deepen knowledge of the story.     

SYFY KRYPTON: 3 masks

SYFY and Instagram asked us to create AR effects for 3 iconic characters from their original series Krypton. Users could become Doomsday, Brainiac, or Lobo. This is one of the most time consuming AR effect we created as we sculpted each character from scratch. For interactivity, we highlighted each character’s special traits with facial gestures and as a result brought users into an immersive engagement with the series.

The Mill: Social AR

This ‘Social AR‘ video was produced by the Mill Experience team to celebrate the launch of 250+ AR effects. I am proud to be taking a part of team effort and they featured various AR effects I helped create, art direct and creative direct.
I helped create effects for AMC NOS4A2, HBO Watchmen, SYFY Krypton, HBO Game of throne, NCAA March Madness, Netflix Narcos, Warner Bros Justice League, and FIFA World Cup among many others.

Before the public release of Spark AR, we created around 30 AR effects for "client X." It was one of the most fun AR explorations and collaborations I had. Shown here are a handful of the effects I helped create with talented Mill+ designers.
